Karri Koskela elected as new Chair of Flexible Packaging Europe

At the FPE Summer Conference, which took place in Ljubljana at end of June 2025, Karri Koskela, CEO of Wipak, was unanimously elected as the new Chair of the European association Flexible Packaging Europe (FPE). He succeeds Jakob A. Mosser, who has held the position with great commitment over the past five years. At the same time, Michele Guala was re-elected as Vice-Chair.

FPE publishes guidance for life cycle assessment of flexible packaging

A guidance to support the environmental assessment of flexible packaging solutions from a life cycle thinking perspective has just been provided by the European flexible packaging industry. It was elaborated by the environmental sustainability consultancy Quantis in collaboration with experts from six European flexible packaging converting companies and the association Flexible Packaging Europe (FPE) and its content is publicly available.

European Parliament’s vote on PPWR is a step forward to encourage resource efficient packaging and boost packaging circularity

Today, the European Parliament approved the provisional EU agreement on the Regulation on Packaging and Packaging Waste (PPWR). Flexible Packaging Europe (FPE), representing flexible packaging suppliers across materials, welcomes this important step forward in the legislative process.

Council sets ambitious targets for recycling at scale of flexible packaging but fails ensuring enabling conditions

Today, the Environment Council voted on a General Approach on the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) proposal. “After the vote in the European Parliament, we are glad to see the file making concrete progress also in the Council” states Guido Aufdemkamp, Executive Director of Flexible Packaging Europe.

Officers re-elected to serve another term in 2023/5 at Flexible Packaging Europe

At its summer conference, held this year in Thessaloniki, the members of Flexible Packaging Europe (FPE) re-elected Jakob A. Mosser to the Chair. He was first elected in 2020. Also continuing their terms of office are Vice-Chairs Michele Guala and Michael Zacka.

FPE expresses concern about potential gas shortage and supply allocations

The members of Flexible Packaging Europe (FPE) welcome the consideration of the agri-food supply chain as “societally-critical” in the “Save Gas for a Safe Winter” initiative by the EU Commission and its Member States. Packaging is an integral part of this chain as recently outlined by Copa-Cogeca, Primary Food Processors, and FoodDrinkEurope. Other “societally-critical” value chains, such as the pharmaceutical and medical sectors, also rely on flexible packaging to ensure patients can access those products.
