First ‘European FlexPack Summit’ was a great success
With the first European FlexPack Summit, which took place from 24-26 February in Barcelona, Flexible Packaging Europe (FPE) brought together many key players from the industry. The event provided a new, relevant platform for the exchange of knowledge, market developments and industry challenges. The more than 130 participants from over 80 companies and organizations benefited from top-class presentations, in-depth discussions and numerous networking opportunities.
FPE publishes guidance for life cycle assessment of flexible packaging
A guidance to support the environmental assessment of flexible packaging solutions from a life cycle thinking perspective has just been provided by the European flexible packaging industry. It was elaborated by the environmental sustainability consultancy Quantis in collaboration with experts from six European flexible packaging converting companies and the association Flexible Packaging Europe (FPE) and its content is publicly available.
Flexible packaging manufacturers are optimistic for the future
The members of Flexible Packaging Europe (FPE) met for their annual summer conference in June, this time in Copenhagen. After an economically challenging 2023, the industry is cautiously optimistic about the future and is forecasting moderate growth for 2024.

Council sets ambitious targets for recycling at scale of flexible packaging but fails ensuring enabling conditions
Today, the Environment Council voted on a General Approach on the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) proposal. “After the vote in the European Parliament, we are glad to see the file making concrete progress also in the Council” states Guido Aufdemkamp, Executive Director of Flexible Packaging Europe.
